I’m brand new to fishing just catch and release. really small stuff like bluegill and sunfish. But every now and then I’ll catch one that appears to be bleeding out and I gotta off em. Ultralight...but its a medium light! C'mon Sammy, ultralight is an actually rod power rating (UL, L, ML, M, MH etc)...not just a catch phrase for lighter than usual tackle for the species. Sorry, its a gripe of mine

That’s awesome. I’ve seen them and kingfish (mackerel) sky a bunch of times on kite baits. I saw something extremely impressive once though from a king. It jumped out of the water at probably a 30-45 degree angle. And was perfectly level the whole time till he got up to about 20-25 feet. Then it turned kind of sideways like a pro on a dirt bike and changed his aim back towards the water. Went in like an absolute bullet, no splash. Those fish sometimes absolutely know what they are doing in the air. It probably covered at least 80-100 foot distance from in and out. But the most impressive thing was that wiggle and orientation change it made at the peak of flight to point it back down perfectly into the water.

Love your videos but just my .02$ I don’t mess with sharks. That’s the king out there. Yes unfortunately that tax man comes often. But if you ever end up in that drink, boat goes down. I dunno I just don’t kill or fish for sharks anymore. Something about that.

maybe having a GoPro close to the bait so you could see what it is that takes your bait. Could be a fish or (?) USO

Did I see that one eye of the big deep blue eye had blown out just as you boated him? Looked like maybe a sudden pressure change thing for a creature brought up so quickly from such a depth.

My explanation would be this: a fish ate the bait, the shark attacked the fish with its tail and got hooked. The first part of the fight was with the shark and as it got tired a big squid or multiple squids attacked him. they must have been on it quite long to do that. then when you started gain line they left it. Great video anyway

Our version of that red fish is the toro snapper. Better than queen probably, and that’s a statement. Very few couple little super red very deep types of fish that outdo queen.

That’s pretty interesting, here in south Florida we catch black fins on the bottom all the time while fishing for blue line tilefish from 450-600’ and golden from 600-1000’ on the bottom with tile rigs. You know when you got one too. Sometimes we get sharks but a lot of times yea black fin on the bottom. Get a MOB wireless kill switch.
